30 day challenge: Setting daily intentions
Our lives are noisy with decisions we have to make and daily stresses big and small. On top of that, we are bombarded with what’s happening around us - the world at large - and not all of it is good. The outside world piles on more stress and distractions. So how does one get past the noise so you can focus on what’s needed to manage your life?
I am in the midst of making some pretty big decisions at the moment that will include a major transition. It requires FOCUS!
Starting July 1, I am challenging myself to set at least one intention every day for 30 days. It will help lessen the stress, block out the distractions and keep me motivated to get stuff done. Honestly, it’s the only way I will get through this. Intentions can be based a number of factors; what you value, how you want to feel or plain old just wanting to get things done. I plan to base most of my intentions on achieving goals.
I would love some partners in this challenge. If you want to join me, here are some guidelines:
Timing is important. Start your day with an intention. It will help you focus your efforts throughout the day.
Be Specific. Be specific about what you want to achieve. I want to get stuff done and will accomplish two things on my to do list. I want to feel calm and will practice deep breathing throughout the day.
Be Realistic. Make sure your intention is achievable within a 24 hour period. Setting unrealistic goals will leave you feeling defeated. So even if you are a powerhouse doer and I’m sure some of you are, pick one or two things on your to do list instead of 10.
Write it down. Write it down and place it somewhere visible - on your computer screen or refrigerator. It will be top of mind if you can see it throughout the day.
I would love to hear if you plan to join me on my 30 day challenge. If 30 days seems daunting, try it for one week. You’ll be surprised at the impact it has on your life and might even extend it beyond seven days. Reach out on linkedin at my What’s Next Transition Coaching page and let me know how it’s going.
