negotiate the salary you deserve.

I am here to tell you that there have been times when I did not understand my worth AND did not negotiate a salary commensurate with my experience. I’m not big on regret but I do remember it as a valuable lesson.

Here’s what Natalia had to say after I supported her in finding a new job and a salary she was excited about:

At the start of this year, I knew I needed a change and wanted my life to look very different in 6 months. I got Kathy's email during a week I was feeling really stressed and overwhelmed about how to make this happen and she was just in time! Kathy provided me with the structure and support I needed to explore multiple paths and find clarity toward my next step. She's not just a great listener but is so skilled at asking helpful probing questions. Kathy also provided me with helpful tools to help me cut through all the noise. With the clarity and confidence I gained with Kathy, I landed a new job that better fits with my needs and wants. And she helped me negotiate a higher salary than I even thought possible. I've also got some exciting paths outlined for the future and feel at ease and excited to see where this transition takes me. I couldn't recommend Kathy highly enough - she is worth every penny!”

Do you know how to explain your worth when negotiating a raise or a salary for a new job?

Here are a few tips:

Do your research. Research the market value for your position and experience, as well as your own unique skills and accomplishments.

Be confident. Be assertive and stand up for what you believe you're worth.

Focus on your value. Focus on the value you bring to the company. Talk about your skills and experience. Share examples of your accomplishments and how you can help the company achieve its goals.

Be prepared to walk away. This doesn't mean you have to give up on the job, but it does mean that you're not willing to settle for less than you're worth.
